Irrigation is the backbone of Agriculture. Manual drilling can help farmers save 40% or more in borewell cost. Availability of irrigation will enable farmers to take 2-3 crops each year as against a single rainfed crop as is the case in several parts of India. Origin Oils is working with farmers in rural India to set up irrigation facilities and providing financial and operational support to enable this. There are several schemes available for farmers to further reduce this cost by use of relevant subsidies. The Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) is the primary program on a central level for irrigation.
